Two former business competitors, Mr. T.C. DeVore and Mr. Cecil Johnson, joined forces to start DeVore & Johnson, the first plumbing supply company in Athens, GA, in January 1950. Previously Mr. DeVore worked for a wholesaler in Greenville, SC, and Mr. Johnson worked with a firm in Atlanta. With only a four-person team, the DeVore & Johnson business quickly grew to cover a 100-mile radius, gaining a loyal customer base to help the young company succeed
In 1957, the pair expanded their business to form DeVore & Johnson Electric Supply, in the Athens facility where it still operates today. After Mr. Johnson retired in 1980, DeVore & Johnson continued to grow its customer base over the decades, resulting in the groundbreaking of new locations for the business in the 1990’s.

In 1991, DeVore & Johnson of Atlanta opened in Forest Park. Six years later, Mr. DeVore retired and handed over the responsibilities of DeVore & Johnson to his two sons, Ted and Mike DeVore. In 2004, DeVore & Johnson launched a third location in Suwanee, and another new facility in Suwanee opened in January 2008.
